PREVEZA
The city of Preveza is located in the narrow entrance of the Ambracian gulf, across the street from the Actium where the 31π.x was a crucial naval battle between Octavian and συνασπισμένου fleet of Antony and Cleopatra, which considered not only the power of the Roman Empire, and the subsequent course of the then-known world. In memory of his victory, Octavian's subsequent August, has created a brilliant new city, Nicopolis, which blossomed in the next centuries, and surpassed in population of 300,000 residents.
Preveza is a continuation of Nicopolis, which was destroyed in the 10th century and this has been expressed about the 14th century, where the ruins of Nicopolis are referred to as old Preveza. Preveza because of the importance of the position was the apple of discord between the great powers Venetians, Turks, and French, who alternated sequentially as conquerors of it.
The existence, indeed, until the early 20th century , six consulates (English, French, Greek, Italian, austrian, Russian) this indicates the importance of the strategic and commercial.
Freed and joined the Greek state in 1912. Preveza looks like a green island as it is surrounded from three sides by the sea and the fourth is just 1 kilometre contact with the rest of the land.
The aura of the coast of the Ionian sea, the Amvrakikos Gulf, an ecosystem with excellent biological, ecological and aesthetic value, and the lush vegetation that surrounds it, give in Preveza, a particularly excellent climate throughout the course of the year.
